WASHINGTON, DC – The H Street Main Street (HSMS) organization today launched a comprehensive new website to promote H Street N.E. activities and development opportunities and provide new communications tools for H Street businesses, neighborhood residents, and others around the nation and the world.
HSMS Executive Director Anwar Saleem announced the launch and urged:

“Please go to www.hstreet.org for the latest information about the rebirth of Washington’s H Street N.E. corridor as a great and growing diverse urban center, thriving with a healthy mix of restaurants, nightclubs, art galleries, live theaters, retail shopping and services, office complexes, and a variety of residential options.”

“Look also at the new website pages relating the history of H Street and how it has triumphed over a difficult period of blight to rise again to prominence as one of Washington’s most desirable locations to live, work, and play,” Mr. Saleem continued. “Over the years, hundreds of H Street area residents and business owners, DC Government officials, investors, and others who simply love what H Street is have worked to bring about the success we are enjoying today. We thank them.”

Mr. Saleem noted that the website provides new tools for those interested in moving to the neighborhood to live and businesses and individuals interested in purchasing, leasing, or investing in the development of H Street properties. The website’s Properties page under the Business tab lists 89 properties available for residential, commercial (retail and office), or mixed-use development. It includes a link that web viewers may use to have new properties added to the list as they become available for purchase, lease, or development.

The Housing page under the Live tab shows the locations of residential apartment and condominium properties on or near H Street. Some are already available for purchase or lease, and others are under construction or available for residential development.

“Though the website and our other efforts, H Street Main Street helps match potential new residents, businesses, developers, and investors with the best possible H Street opportunities to meet their needs,” Mr. Saleem said.

In other highlights, the new website includes:

  • The latest information about H Street’s premier event, the annual H Street Festival, occurring this year on Saturday, September 15. Last year, some 50,000 festival-goers flocked to the street for a day of music, dancing, food, arts, shopping, and all-around camaraderie.
  • Real-time Twitter feeds, keeping website viewers up to date on the latest H Street buzz.
  • Biographical introductions to H Street Main Street’s nine-member board of directors, who serve as volunteers contributing their time, energy, and expertise to the advancement of the H Street community.
  • A Business Directory, listing more than 200 H Street area business establishments, including descriptions of each business, hours of operation, and contact information.

“We hope the Business Directory will prove to be a vital everyday resource for everyone interested in visiting H Street for shopping, dining out, seeing a play or musical performance or art exhibit, seeking dry cleaning or hair care or fitness services, or looking for pet supplies and services,” Mr. Saleem said. “H Street has it all – and more to come!”

H Street Main Street is a nonprofit entity, certified as a Main Street organization in accordance with the standards of the Main Street Program of the National Trust for Historic Preservation.
